Title: One Thousand Six Hundred and Sixty Five Minutes Eighteen Seconds

In response to a <1 call for works interpreting John Cage's 4'33"

fourthirtythree.bandcamp.com/releases

The MVM decided to record 4'33" every day for a year.

That was in January 02020. On February 01, 02020, we began recording 4' 33" at a public keyboard every day. We recorded it at public keyboards across Eugene/Springfield, OR and Corvallis, OR. We performed the piece at colleges, thrift stores, assisted living facilities, parks, libraries, business buildings, art centers, etc.

Then there was a pandemic.

What we imagined initially would be a harsh wall of noise, turned out to be a record of 47 weeks of rainfall and silence overridden by 5 weeks of public performance.

During the 47 weeks we performed this piece during the pandemic, we performed it on keyboards at work and at home, primarily. On a few occasions we used a portable keyboard to perform it in parks and at the beach.

We provide here four different tracks:

Our original vision of 4" 33" layered

A two month layering giving a hint of what could have been

A ten month layering of what actually occurred

And an end to end review of the year.
