Once upon a time there was a troubador who roamed gaily across the unnamed countrysides of an unfamiliar place.

Let us call this being Una Demenos.

Oonagh weaved spells of sound -- shaking, enlightening, diminishing, forever changing all they encountered. Ewnah traveled far and wide, through hill and dale, across mountains and valleys, fording rivers and floating down creeks. Unah was as much of the land as of the mortal. Their song entranced and enchanted bird, wasp, and frog; cloud, mist, and stream; stone, worm, and breeze; fawn, mole, and magma. Their song chilled the magnetic fields; stilled the thermopause; and thrilled the iron-nicklecore.

There came a day, a dark sunless day in a cold hungry winter, when Oona encountered a footbridge where no footbridge belonged. They initially thought to go around the footbridge (for that which does not belong is at first suspect to life) but then changed their mind, feeling not thinking, that across the footbridge was perhaps the curiouser choice. And so Ounaw started.

Many months later they found themselves at the center of the footbridge, standing looking out over a chasm, an abyss, as grand as a cold dead universe; a yawning emptiness of dreamless dark.

"Here I must sing my song. Now. For this silence."

For this silence beckoned Unagh's song.

And they sang...
