Of Raindrops And Tears - From A Heart

Do
raindrops
envy tears Because
they glide gently down
cheeks, And aren't falling
onto concrete? Do raindrops
envy tears As they come from
pure emotion And aren't
equivalent to vapor?

Do tears
envy raindrops
Which have no say
in their falling And don't
have to feel ashamed? Do
tears envy raindrops Because
they need not feel pain, Or
fear or heartbreak?

Shelbie Rassler has gained global attention for her compositions and
social impact videos, most notably for her work on the Emmy nominated “Seasons of Love” Broadway Performance at the 2021 Presidential Inauguration. Shelbie has written new works and arrangements for notable performers/ensembles, including Yo-Yo Ma, Anthony McGill, Decoda (Carnegie Hall), and the United Nations Chamber Music Society. Shelbie has worked on the music production team of several Netflix shows and has composed the score for Lexus commercials, HBO Max ads, and many short films, including “Titan”, which is a CMF Cannes Film Festival Official Selection.

Shelbie collaborated on a string of virtual performances, resulting in over $8 million in total donations to help those affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. Shelbie won a CBS Sunny Award and the Eugene Difficult New Music Ensemble Call for Scores, was nominated for an American Academy of Arts and Letters Composer Award and was named Truthspaper’s “Young Woman of the Year”. She’s been interviewed on The Today Show, Good Morning America, Forbes, NPR and many others.

Shelbie recently graduated from The Juilliard School. The proud Juilliard Career Advancement Fellow was the Composer-in-Residence of piano Sonoma Music Festival and University of Kansas, as well as the Music Associate and Conductor/Multi-instrumentalist at the 2022 Vail Dance Festival.
